Training Guides & How It Works

Whether you're pursuing a CCW permit, NRA certification, or just getting started with firearms — here's exactly what to expect from each path.

How the CCW Permit Process Works

San Diego County issues permits through the Sheriff. Here's the order it happens in.

1

Apply with the Sheriff

Start your application now at the San Diego Sheriff's website. It doesn't matter if you haven't trained yet or don't own a gun — you can still get the application in and wait for conditional approval. Booking a class before you're approved is the most expensive mistake people make.

Book Your Class

Complete your online instruction first, then join us at the indoor range for your live-fire qualification day. Renewing? You only need the range day.

3

Qualify and Carry

Qualify at the range, collect your certificate, and finish with the Sheriff. You're done.

How NRA Courses Work

NRA courses are open to anyone — no permit application required. Just show up and learn.

1

Choose Your Course

We offer three NRA courses: the Gun Safety Seminar (2 hours, $150) for anyone who wants a solid safety foundation; NRA Basic Pistol (half day, $200) for hands-on live-fire fundamentals; and Instructor-Led Basic Pistol (8 hours online, $200) for a self-paced option. No experience required for any of them.

How Intro to Firearms Works

Never held a gun before? This is the right place to start.

1

No Experience Needed

Intro to Firearms is a 4-hour beginner course held at our indoor range. We cover safe handling, storage, basic operation, and range etiquette in a relaxed, judgment-free environment. You don't need to own a firearm to attend.
